I am writing in support of Resolution 678-20 which I understand will be heard by the Hawaii County City Council on
Wednesday. Across the country, states and municipalities are being bullied by telecom giants and the
FCC. Thousands of studies show harm from wireless technology including our own NIH/NTP study showing clear
evidence of cancer and other harm. Yet the technology continues to be rolled out. There are many places standing up
for the health of residents including Petaluma, Mill Valley, Monterrey and other cities in California, as well as Easton,
Connecticut etc. We are urging you to do the same. For the most part telecom is not challenging those who say no to
5G but even if they do, they cannot recover damages or attorney fees - the worst case scenario would be that they
would be permitted to move forward with their applications.
An estimated 20% of the population are already sensitive to wireless technologies. Many live in Hawaii, or like me,
vacation regularly on the Big Island to get away from this radiation. In addition to the human costs, you will see
some loss of tourist revenue as well as 20-30% drops in property values.
We are requesting that all telecommunication companies and public utilities operating in Hawaii County to cease the
5G wireless infrastructure buildout until such technologies have been proven safe to human health and environment
through independent research and testing.
