SUBJECT: Request for progress report from the Kilauea Eruption Recovery Team
By means of this communication I am requesting a 15 minute update followed by a 30 minute discussion with the
Recovery Team on progress being made to assist Puna residents recovery from the 2018 Kilauea eruption.
Specifically:
Interim Recovery Strategy (Adopted by the Hawai `i County Council, September 18, 2019)
• Completed projects and priorities
• How priorities articulated are being aligned with and elevated into other recovery plans such as the
Recovery & Resilience Plan and Economic Recovery Plan
Community Engagement & Decision -Making Structure
• Report on Neighborhood Place of Puna case management efforts
• Ongoing work with the Recovery Task Force
• Status of activating Recovery Support Function teams and assigning co-chairs
• Who and/or what is driving final decisions for Puna recovery?
Community Empowerment
• Kilauea Recovery Grants Program awards update
• Status of launching the Puna Strong Grants Program
Infrastructure & Federally -Funded Actions
• Status of all 428 applications submitted by County agencies, timeline for roads restoration
• Overview of submitted CDBG-DR Action Plan and plans to utilize additional DR funding
• Update on Pohoiki boat ramp restoration
