CALL TO ORDER: A public hearing to consider the proposed operating and capital budgets
for fiscal year July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021, was called to order by
Chair Aaron S. Y. Chung at 5:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers,
Hilo.
ATTENDANCE:

Ms. Ashley L. Kierkiewicz, Member

Mr. Herbert M. "Tim" Richards, III, Member
Ms. Rebecca Villegas, Member (via videoconference from Kona)
Absent& Excused: Ms. Maile Medeiros David, Member
PURPOSE OF CHR. CHUNG: I hereby call this public hearing to order pursuant to Section 10-4
HEARING: of the Hawaii County Charter. This public hearing is convened to receive
statements from the public regarding the capital and operating budgets of the
County of Hawaii.
Council Members, we are here to receive public statements only. We may only
ask questions to clarify a speaker's statements. Discussion on the capital and
operating budgets will be reserved for tomorrow's special meeting of the Council
that convenes at 9 a.m. and a subsequent special meeting currently scheduled for
June 4, 2020, where we anticipate passage of these budget bills, as amended on
second and final reading.
