STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 742 20 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN <br /> AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH <br /> PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A GRANT TO THE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH <br /> AND DEVELOPMENT <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii, Department of Health has authorized $26,000 to be <br /> provided to the Department of Research and Development's 2020 Fall Hawaii County Food Access <br /> Virtual Summit and 2021 Hawaii County Food Access Summit; and <br /> WHEREAS, these funds will be used to bring together stakeholders from different sectors in <br /> the food system, including Hawaii County residents, food system leaders, ranchers, farmers, <br /> agricultural industry support organizations, educators and students, politicians, and cultural <br /> practitioners; and <br /> WHEREAS, these summits will build collaborative capacity, collect data for network mapping <br /> and food system study, showcase successful projects, and continue the momentum towards building <br /> a more equitable, inclusive, sustainable, resilient food and agriculture system for Hawaii; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County departments obtain <br /> the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting <br /> action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any <br /> funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br /> powers; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in accordance with <br /> section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to <br />
