RESOLUTION NO. 745 20
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE PROSECUTING
ATTORNEY TO AWARD FUNDS TO THE YWCA
WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii
County Code (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000
to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the
grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance
or resolution; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County
Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than
profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the
Internal Revenue Code; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney has received federal funds
through a Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) grant; and
WHEREAS, the YWCA, which qualifies as a nonprofit organization as defined
above, will provide Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) exams, and therapeutic
support to victims of sexual assault; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney wishes to provide $50,000
of these federal funds to the YWCA; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in
accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County
Code, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is authorized to provide a grant of
$50,000 to the YWCA to provide services as indicated above.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii
shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance
Department, and the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney.
