IV OF <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII -( STATE OF HAWAII <br /> �Tt :es" <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 747 20 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII <br /> CHILDREN'S ACTION NETWORK TO ASSIST WITH OPERATING EXPENSES FOR <br /> ITS HAWAII PARENT LEADERSHIP TRAINING INSTITUTE PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, Hawai`i Children's Action Network (HCAN) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization that works to engage, educate, empower, and mobilize networks of families and <br /> community leaders in order to ensure that all keiki are safe, healthy, and ready to learn; and <br /> WHEREAS, HCAN is conducting its Hawai`i Parent Leadership Training Institute <br /> (PLTI) program, a free 20-week virtual training, starting in October 2020 and ending in March <br /> 2021; and <br /> WHEREAS, PLTI is a unique program designed to teach parents skills in leadership, <br /> advocacy, and civic engagement in order to effectively create change in their community; and <br /> WHEREAS, HCAN is requesting financial assistance to fund PLTI coordinators, <br /> trainers, materials, technology costs, and national curriculum; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug-free and alcohol-free <br /> programs that enrich the lives of community members; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to HCAN to assist with operating expenses for its PLTI <br /> program. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
