Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 736-20, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 736-20, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna Sako, via Communication No. 1084
dated September 18, 2020, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of
Hawai`i, Department of Agriculture pursuant to Hawai`i Revised Statutes Section 46-7, for a grant to the
Department of Research and Development.
This resolution provides funds in the amount of$49,896 that would be used for the North Kohala Coqui
Frog Control project, to prevent the establishment of the coqui frog in the North Kohala district..
A motion to move Resolution No. 736-20 to Council with a positive recommendation was made by
Council Herbert M. "Tim" Richards, III, and seconded by Council Member Rebecca Villegas.
Council Member Richards shared that the North Kohala Coqui group continues to do a phenomenal job in
combatting the coqui frog in Kohala and beyond.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 736-20, and
recommends its adoption.
