RESOLUTION NO. 760 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII CARE
CHOICES TO CREATE A POHAI MALAMA CARE CENTER BROCHURE.
WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo, doing business as Hawai`i Care Choices, is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization providing palliative, hospice, and bereavement care with a mission to
improve the lives of those touched by illness or grief by offering support, guidance, and
compassionate care of the body, mind, and spirit; and
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Care Choices' inpatient facility, Pohai Malama Care Center,
provides a royal experience of grace, comfort, and dignity to individuals near the end of life, and
during this COVID-19 pandemic, many families are requesting more information on end-of-life
choices; and
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Care Choices seeks to raise community awareness and education
on end-of-life choices and is requesting funds to create an informational brochure for Pohai
Malama Care Center; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug-free and alcohol-free
programs that enrich the lives of community members; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawai`i Care Choices to create a Pohai Malama Care Center
brochure.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
