os M <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII •i• ''�-�'� �#: STATE OF HAWAII <br /> •'..•E Of M' <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 761 20 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII <br /> CHILDREN'S ACTION NETWORK FOR ITS PARENT LEADERSHIP TRAINING <br /> INSTITUTE CLASSES ON HAWAII ISLAND. <br /> WHEREAS, since 1997, Hawai`i Children's Action Network (HCAN), a 501(c)(3) <br /> nonprofit organization, has been building a unified voice for Hawai`i's children to ensure all <br /> keiki are safe, healthy, and ready to learn by using research and data analysis to empower, <br /> engage, educate, and mobilize families, community leaders, nonprofits, and policymakers to <br /> advocate for children; and <br /> WHEREAS, HCAN's Parent Leadership Training Institute trains parents, caregivers, <br /> and other community members to become leaders and advocates through 20 weeks of free <br /> training sessions where participants will learn to effectively create change by acquiring skills to <br /> tackle parental challenges and then completing a project within their own community to address <br /> those challenges to improve the lives of keiki in their community; and <br /> WHEREAS, HCAN is requesting funds for trained facilitators, program supplies, and <br /> technology needs for its Parent Leadership Training Institute classes on Hawai`i Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports organizations that provide <br /> parental guidance and training that is beneficial to the children of Hawai`i Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hawai`i Children's Action Network for its Parent <br /> Leadership Training Institute classes on Hawai`i Island. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
