(--)... • 'Mt: ...•'7,,7'•.�;COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 762 20 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL TO ASSIST THE BIG ISLAND INVASIVE SPECIES COMMITTEE WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS NEIGHBORHOOD LITTLE FIRE ANT FIGHTERS PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council (BIRCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist people of the Big Island in achieving sustainable development while caring for and appreciating their natural environment to ensure broadened economic opportunities, enriched communities, and better lives; and WHEREAS, BIRCDC will partner with the Big Island Invasive Species Committee (BIISC) to support its Neighborhood Little Fire Ant Fighters program to assist with efforts to control little fire ants on Hawai`i Island; and WHEREAS, BIISC's Neighborhood Little Fire Ant Fighters program facilitates the formation of trained neighborhood-control teams, offers support and ongoing training to each team for one year, and provides 25% of the materials and supplies, including application materials, survey kits, and ant bait; and WHEREAS, BIRCDC is requesting funds to provide BIISC with supplies and materials to be used in its Neighborhood Little Fire Ant Fighters program; and WHEREAS, one of the objectives of the Department of Research and Development's agriculture program is to reduce the negative impact of invasive species through research, education, and community initiatives; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to BIRCDC to assist BIISC with expenses related to its Neighborhood Little Fire Ant Fighters program.
