COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 770 20 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO ST. JAMES' EPISCOPAL CHURCH FOR ITS PA`AUILO COMMUNITY MEAL PROGRAM AT ST. COLUMBA'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH TO HELP THOSE IN NEED DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. WHEREAS, St. James' Episcopal Church, a subordinate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of The Episcopal Church in Hawai`i, provides weekly meals to families in need through its Community Meal programs on Hawai`i Island; and WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused severe economic strain and hardship on families, many of whom are now struggling to provide healthy meals for their loved ones; and WHEREAS, St. James' Episcopal Church has started a Pa'auilo Community Meal program at St. Columba's Episcopal Church to provide meals to those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic; and WHEREAS, St. James' Episcopal Church has requested financial assistance for its Pa'auilo Community Meal program to purchase food, paper goods, and other related cooking supplies that are needed for the preparation and distribution of heathy meals to the community; and WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports this project as it falls within its mission to enhance the standard of living for residents and the economic viability of businesses in Hawai`i County; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to St. James' Episcopal Church for its Pa'auilo Community Meal program at St. Columba's Episcopal Church to help those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
