RESOLUTION NO. 7 7 5 20
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT
AWARD OF $177,193.75 FROM THE CENTER FOR TECH AND
CIVIC LIFE TO ASSIST WITH SAFE AND SECURE ELECTION
ADMINISTRATION FOR THE 2020 UNITED STATES ELECTIONS
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii has been selected to receive a
$177,193.75 grant award from the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL); and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used for the purpose of planning and
operationalizing safe and secure election administration for the 2020 United
States Elections during the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, CTCL is a national 501(c)(3) organization that offers election
officials affordable opportunities and resources to connect Americans with
information they need to become and remain civically engaged and ensure that
elections are professional, inclusive and secure; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of
money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in
real estate, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County
Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property
which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may
be accepted by Resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the County Clerk recommends the acceptance
of this grant award; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the
Council of the County of Hawaii accepts this grant award.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of
Hawaii shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor and the
Finance Department.
