Enclosed is a resolution accepting a donation of one used electric wheelchair from Mr.
Greg Meyers, 68-3502 Aepo Place, Waikoloa, HI 96738. This electric wheelchair,
valued at approximately $10,000, will be used by the County of Hawaii Fire
Department's Emergency Medical Services Bureau.
The Fire Department requests that this resolution be waived from the Finance Committee
and be placed on the December 23, 2020 Council agenda in order to expedite receipt of
this donation. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Melanio Lorenzo,
from the Hawaii Fire Department at 961-2921.

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The electric wheelchair will be used by the Fire Department's Emergency Medical Services Bureau. It is
capable of transporting a bariatric patient weighing up to 500 pounds. It permits tilting the patient into a
near-horizontal position.
The Department would like to request a waiver of hearing by the Finance Committee and have this request
heard by the Council on its December 23, 2020 meeting in order to expedite the receipt of the donated
equipment.

RE: Resolution No. 17-20 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING
THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF AN ELECTRIC
WHEELCHAIR FROM MR. GREG MEYERS TO THE COUNTY OF
HAWAVI FIRE DEPARTMENT
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
