A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR ONLINE LEGAL RESEARCH PROVIDER FOR THE OFFICE OF THE CORPORATION COUNSEL
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the Hawai‘i County Charter requires that any contract, lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or
of more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawai‘i Office of the Corporation Counsel (“Corporation Counsel”) seeks to contract with Westlaw a Thomson Reuter Company to access its online legal research and
proprietary data base; and
WHEREAS, the Corporation Counsel seeks approval of this one year term contract which will extend beyond a single fiscal year and terminate on November 25, 2021; and
WHEREAS, the Corporation Counsel is requesting authorization for the Mayor to enter into a multi-fiscal year agreement with Westlaw for online legal research.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that the Honorable Mitch Roth, Mayor of the County of Hawai‘i, is hereby authorized to enter into a multi-fiscal year Contract
with Westlaw, for a term beginning November 26, 2020, and ending November 25, 2021 for monthly rate of FIVE THOUSAND ONE HUNDERED AND FIFTY SEVEN AND 73/DOLLARS ($5,157.73).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of the Lease.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to: (1) Mayor Mitch Roth; (2) Department of Finance; and (3) Office of the Corporation Counsel.
