Aloha Council Chair David and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Gene Nakashima of Council District 6 to the Fire Commission.
Mr. Nakashima is a life-long Hawai'i County resident who retired in 2009 from the Hawai'i Fire
Department after 30 years of exemplary service. He is the Head Instructor of Kona Hongwanji
Judo Club and the former President of the 50th State Judo Association(2014—2019).
Mr. Nakashima is a graduate of Konawaena High School, Hawai'i Community College and
holds numerous Hawai'i Fire Department Certifications, as well as several United Stated Judo
Federation Certifications. If confirmed, he will serve a term to end December 2023.
