Aloha Council Chair David and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Steven A. Hirakami of Council District 5 to the Water Board.
Mr. Hirakami has been a resident of Hawaii County for over 40 years, and since 2001, Principal
of Hawai'i Academy of Arts and Sciences PCS.
Mr. Hirakami is an energetic contributor to our community, presently Vice Chairperson of the
Board of Appeals, term ending December 2020, active with the Hilo Y's Men and Women's
Club, and previously with the Hawai'i Island Corporate Board YMCA, and as a Commissioner
on the Public Open Space and Natural Resources Commission (POMC). If confirmed, he will
serve a term to end December 2023.
