Roth, via Communication No. 39, dated December 8, 2020, submitting <br /> for the Council's review and confirmation the appointment of Mr. Lee E. Lord as Managing Director for <br /> the County of Hawaii. <br /> 3 <br /> 3 <br /> Mayor Roth introduced Mr. Lord as a personal friend, a feminist and an amazing leader who holds a PhD <br /> in psychology and was unanimously chosen by the selection committee to fill the position of Managing <br /> Director. Mr. Lord has decades of experience directing and administrating in non-profit human services <br /> settings as well as seven years as the Business Manager for the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney in <br /> Hawaii County. <br /> Mr. Lord was present and said he was humbled to be considered for the position of Managing Director <br /> working alongside his friend and colleague Mayor Roth. Mr. Lord views the position as one of support for <br /> the Mayor's initiatives as well as for the Department Heads all working together to make the best <br /> decisions for Hawaii County employees and residents. <br /> { <br /> Pursuant to Article VI, Section 6-1.2 of the Hawaii County Charter, "The managing director shall be <br /> appointed by the mayor, confirmed by the council and may be removed by the mayor. The managing <br /> director shall have had five years of experience in an administrative capacity, and shall possess <br /> demonstrable education and/or professional experience as required of the office." <br /> { <br /> Your Committee on Governmental Operations, Relations, and Economic Development is in accord with <br /> the purpose and intent of Communication No. 39, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of <br /> Mr. Lee E.
