Aloha Councilmembers,
I urge you to deny the confirmation of two very questionable Mayoral appointments, Ikaika Rodenhurst and Zendo
Kern.
Both Ikaika Rodenhurst and Zendo Kern are highly unqualified for the respective positions of Public Works Director
and Planning Director. Both have very clear financial ties and conflicts of interest to developers, including many off-
island developers as well as political contributions.
Very important to note is that Ikaika Rodenhurst gave the ONLY oral testimony against public safety and
independent research pertaining to the unbridled roll-out of 5G towers on our island. He claimed that it was safe
(with no current research) and dismissed public outcry challenging the safety of the technology in our
neighborhoods. He was the only oral testimony supporting 5G roll out without more independent research. To have
someone like this as the head of Public Works is very scary to the health and wellness of our community and our
keiki. We need someone who is not in the pocket of developers and who exhibits care for the health and safety of the
community.
It is so important for these directors to hold public safety as paramount and to be trusted by the community. Neither
Rodenhurst nor Kern fall in this category. In fact,these particular appointments seem to be more of lack of
transparency and further entrenched politics that is not "for the people".
Please for all the numerous reasons of all the testifiers, deny the appointments of Rodenhurst and Kern.
