RE: Letter Supporting Mayor Roth's Appointment of Planner Zendo Kern as County of Hawaii
Planning Department Director—Effective December 7, 2020
Aloha e Councilors:
I would like to place my support and good wishes for Mayor Roth's appointment of Zendo Kern as our
Planning Director. rv`
I have performed diligence regarding Mr. Kern's past and feel he is a wonderful choice for the position,
and has many glowing achievements and experience regarding Planning.
Mr. Kern served as a Puna Community Development Action Committee and on our Leeward Planning
Commission and I am excited he recognizes the importance of our CDP's throughout the County, and
will restore and reinvigorate the commitment of us volunteer CDP members throughout the County
moving forward to be the voice for our respective communities at the Planning Department level,
I welcome the opportunity to meet and work with the Planning Department with Zendo Kern at the
helm as a member of the South Kohala CDP as well as a resident of Waikoloa Village serving at different
volunteer capacities to better our community and district.
Mahalo for your time, best of luck to Mayor Roth and his new administrative leadership ahead and
respectfully request you approve the appointment of Zendo Kern as our Planning Director.
