Aloha,
Please accept this letter of unconditional support for Zendo Kern's appointment
as the County of Hawaii Planning Director.
Kua O Ka La Public Charter School has had the opportunity to work directly with
Zendo in our efforts to bring our new school campus into compliance with County
codes. He was professional, knowledgeable, and well versed in his field. He clearly
has established positive working relationships both within the County and the
community. He held our hand every step of the way in the at-times challenging
process. We successfully completed our project goal and are now compliant.
Zendo was born and raised on Hawaii Island and has a deep understanding and
relationship with this place and our community. He has suffered loss and lived
through the impacts of volcanic eruptions. Despite enduring personal loss, Zendo
has continued to serve the community by volunteering his time and expertise to
those who have been impacted and suffered through these events.

In order for the new Planning Director to be truly successful in this position, they

must hold expertise in this field and care deeply for this place. We believe that
Zendo Kern has the necessary attributes for this position and are grateful for this
confirmation of his appointment as Hawaii County's new Planning Director.
