Subject: Appointees to Mayor Mitch Roth's Cabinet
Aloha Council Members,
My name is Hiram Rivera, I am a lifelong resident of Kona. I am writing today to encourage you all to support Mayor
Mitch Roth's Appointed Cabinet Members.
Although some members of the Kona community have voiced their concerns of Mr. Zendo Kern and went as far as
to say, "He may have served Puna well in his political career, but he does not have the education and skills for an
island-wide kuleana." Mr. Kern was born and raised here and possess the skill and knowledge necessary to
effectively manage the Planning Department. It is quite disappointing for people to make such remarks. I am a
native Hawaiian, and such remarks divides our community. We as natives do possess the skill and knowledge to be
effective.
I encourage you all to judge him on his accomplishments, and professional abilities, not by the people who are
against development.
