Re: Comm. 237: Appointment of Elizabeth Strance as Corporation Counsel
Dear Chair Kimball
I am writing in support of the appointment of Elizabeth Strance ("Judge Strance") as Corporation
Counsel. I am currently the litigation supervisor at the Office of the Corporation Counsel and have been
with the office for the last eleven years.
During my time at the Office of the Corporation Counsel, I have appeared before Judge Strance
on numerous occasions. The matters were often complex and highly contested. Judge Strance was
always prepared and thoroughly understood the issues. She is intelligent and her rulings were well
reasoned and fair. Her calm and respectful demeanor during highly contentious hearings also
demonstrated her ability to manage difficult situations,
After her retirement as a Circuit Court judge, she continued to practice law and act as a
mediator. These actions showed her sincere commitment and interest in the law, as well as to the
community. Her intelligence, experience, integrity and temperament will serve the County and the
Office of the Corporation Counsel well.
