Kona �`�r"' Email: holeka,inaba@hawaiicounty.gov <br /> RAWAI`I COUNTY COUNCIL, - a <br /> County of Hawai`i w <br /> West Hawai`i Civic Center, Bldg.A <br /> 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Hwy. a` <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i 96740 <br /> DATE: January 12, 2021 <br /> TO: Maile Medeiros David, Chair <br /> And Members of the Hawaii County Council <br /> FROM: Holeka Goro Inaba, Council Member <br /> Council District 8 <br /> I <br /> I <br /> SUBJECT: Reports attendance of Council Members at the Native Hawaiian <br /> Law Training Course via Zoom on January 11 and 12, 2021 <br /> In accordance with HRS § 92-2.5(e), I am reporting the attendance of Council Members Rebecca <br /> Villegas, Heather Kimball, Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder and myself at the Native Hawaiian Law <br /> Training Course that took place on January 11 and 12, 2021, via zoom. <br /> The Ka Huli Ao Center for Excellence in Native Hawaiian Law invited elected officials and staff <br /> of select governmental State and County entities to attend this Native Hawaiian Law training <br /> course that focused on several topics, including the State's obligation to protect traditional and <br /> customary rights. <br /> HRS Section 92-2.5(e) provides that two or more members of a board, but less than a quorum, <br /> may attend an informational meeting or presentation on matters relating to official board <br /> business, including a meeting of another entity, legislative hearing, convention, seminar, or <br /> community meeting; provided that the meeting or presentation is not specifically and exclusively <br /> organized for or directed toward members of the board. The section further provides that at the <br /> next duly noticed meeting of the board, the board members shall report their attendance and the I <br /> matters presented and discussed that related to official board business. <br /> Please place this communication on the next available council agenda.
