SUBJECT: Reports attendance of Council Members at the Native Hawaiian
Law Training Course via Zoom on January 11 and 12, 2021
In accordance with HRS § 92-2.5(e), I am reporting the attendance of Council Members Rebecca
Villegas, Heather Kimball, Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder and myself at the Native Hawaiian Law
Training Course that took place on January 11 and 12, 2021, via zoom.
The Ka Huli Ao Center for Excellence in Native Hawaiian Law invited elected officials and staff
of select governmental State and County entities to attend this Native Hawaiian Law training
course that focused on several topics, including the State's obligation to protect traditional and
customary rights.
HRS Section 92-2.5(e) provides that two or more members of a board, but less than a quorum,
may attend an informational meeting or presentation on matters relating to official board
business, including a meeting of another entity, legislative hearing, convention, seminar, or
community meeting; provided that the meeting or presentation is not specifically and exclusively
organized for or directed toward members of the board. The section further provides that at the
next duly noticed meeting of the board, the board members shall report their attendance and the I
matters presented and discussed that related to official board business.
