�JNZY OF k, <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI `I <br />t OF H <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />36 zz <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO WAIMEA OUTDOOR <br />CIRCLE FOR GENERAL MAINTENANCE OF THE ULU LA`AU WAIMEA NATURE <br />PARK. <br />WHEREAS, Waimea Outdoor Circle was chartered in 1989 as an official branch chapter <br />of The Outdoor Circle, an umbrella 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, fostering environmental <br />preservation and the enhancement of nature through education and community involvement; and <br />WHEREAS, the Ulu La`au Waimea Nature Park, owned and maintained by Waimea <br />Outdoor Circle, is a recreational and educational park that sits on 10 acres of land in the heart of <br />Waimea and is visited by residents and visitors on a daily basis for walking, picnics, and viewing <br />of dozens of endemic native Hawaiian groundcover, shrubs, and trees throughout the park; and <br />WHEREAS, Waimea Outdoor Circle is requesting funds to cover its annual expenses for <br />general maintenance to operate the Ulu La` au Waimea Nature Park, which includes equipment <br />maintenance and repair, supplies, and rental of portable toilets; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports organizations and <br />community groups that perform service projects to maintain the beauty of our island; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Waimea Outdoor Circle for general maintenance of <br />the Ulu La` au Waimea Nature Park. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
