Aloha Council Chair David and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Charles Kunz of Council District 2 to the Merit Appeals Board.
Mr. Kunz is a life-long resident of the State of Hawai'i, and graduate of the University of
Hawai'i at Hilo with a bachelor's degree in Sociology. He celebrated his retirement in
December of 2018, after thirty-five years of service with the Department of Labor and Industrial
Relations, Workforce Development Division.
Mr. Kunz's contribution to the community has always rested with public service, where he
served on three advisory boards for Hawaii Community College, and on the Appeals/Hearing
Committee for the Department of Education. If confirmed, he will serve a five-year term to end
December 31, 2025.
