Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication 71 reports as follows:
Communication No. 71, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated December 30, 2020,
nominates Richard Henderson II of District 2 to the Board of Appeals.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor, Pomaika`i Bartolome, was in Hilo Chambers to introduce the
nominee. Richard Henderson II is a lifelong resident of Hawaii, with more than 35 years of
experience in real estate. If confirmed, he will serve a term ending December 31, 2023.
Committee Chair Ashley Kierkiewicz and Committee Members Sue Lee Loy and Tim Richards
expressed their gratitude and appreciation for Mr. Henderson's public service.
The vote was then taken on the motion to move this measure to Council with a favorable
recommendation.
Pursuant to Section 6-9.2 of the Hawaii County Charter, members of the Board of Appeals shall
be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 71,
and recommends confirmation of Richard Henderson II to the Board of Appeals.
