Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety,to which was referred
Communication No. 68, reports as follows:
Communication No. 68, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated December 22, 2020,
submitting for the Council's review and confirmation the nomination of George R. "Rick"
Robinson of Council District 6 to the Police Commission.
Executive Assistant Pomaika`i Bartolome was present at Council Chambers in Hilo and
introduced the nominee who appeared via zoom.
Several Council Members commented in favor of the nominee's appointment. Chair Inaba stated
that the nominee would not have to appear at Council for confirmation.
Pursuant to Sections 7-2.2 and 13-4 of the Hawaii County Charter, members of the Police
Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Council.
Your Committee on Parks and Recreation and Public Safety is in accord with the purpose and intent
of Communication No. 68 and recommends confirmation of the appointment of George R. "Rick"
Robinson to the Police Commission.
