Subject: County Planning and Mr Zendo Kern
As a voting member of the Hawaii County and District 6, 1 would like to comment on the qualifications of Mr Zendo Kern.
His 4 page resume which includes his work experience appears to highlight his ability to match potential land developers with private
and public land holders with primary intent to consummate a development deal. While this function is likely necessary, it does not
seem to reflect the necessary experience and proven skills needed as a County Planning Director. Additionally, Mr. Kern appears to
lack adequate experience in a supervisory role on either a large project nor demonstrate sufficient administrative responsibilities,
though he does mention supervision of small, local co-workers groups. Mr Kern does not appear to have any formal education or
training beyond high school and certainly there is not mention of planning for such training in his resume.
I am certainly open to Mr Kern providing more compelling and creditable evidence demonstrating his experience and education
meets the expectations and Job Description of the County Planning Director.
