Aloha council members,
I thought you'd be interested in this clip from West Hawaii Today yesterday.
Seems Mr Dern was "formerly" a planning consultant(per front page). Was that before he became planning
director?? hmmm n....
Even more reason for you to do your duty as the legislative branch of our county government which means that you
are meant to provide a check and balance to the other two branches —not a rubber stamp.
Mahalo for seeing the error(2) of approving a planning director and public works chief who are compromised and
being pushed through as people they are not for reasons that are clear if you understand the concept of"revolving
door" and 2)the insidiousness of less strident campaign finance laws.
The question continues to loom large: Why did the mayor choose such controversial candidates when he has a
limitless pool of qualified people to choose from from here to New York—that is, if he wanted to find someone who
was qualified rather than connected.
