Aloha! My name is Tanya Power and I am a member of the West Hawaii Association of Realtors Government Affairs

We would like you to Know that we support the appointment of l.endo Dern to the Planning Director position. 'Personally, when I
f
heard that Mr. (Kern was being considered for this position, I was against it because we needed hirn in the private sector to`/Vide:
through the disarray at the County level with permitting, shoreline issues, and a plethora of other issues.
i lowever, as one of my colleagues brought to my attention, if we have someone in place with the experience that Mir. Kern brings
to the office, maybe we would not need his skills in the private sector position. It may be naive, but this is our hope to get the
wheels turning in the County Planning Dept and we know that Mr Kern has the skills and knowledge to bring that to fruition.
We are in support of his appointment.
