I oppose the appointment of Zendo Kern as Planning Director. His qualifications are lacking according to
our county charter and what I would expect for leading a county department. This position should be held
by someone with at least minimal experience and education in government planning.
Mr. Kern's glaring conflicts of interest are exemplified by his participation with KVC LLC and Kona Three
LLC principals, Richard Wheelock and two others, in the donation of over $10,000 to Mayor Roth's
campaign fund.
His questionable background for this very important position for our county does not stand up to the
qualifications we need and deserve.
