Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 70, reports as follows:

Communication No. 70, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated December 30, 2020,

nominates Lisa Anne Kamuela Mehelua to the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources
Preservation Commission(PONC).
Ms. Pamaika`i Bartalome, Executive Assistant to Mayor Roth, introduced Ms. Mehelua, and praised her
dedication as a volunteer. Ms. Mehelua is currently the Malama Network Coordinator for Kamehameha
Schools and the owner of Launani Interior Landscaping.
Nominee Mehelua was present and expressed her deep connection to the `aina and her commitment
to PONC's mission. Several Council Members expressed their gratitude for her willingness to serve
and commented enthusiastically in favor of Ms. Mehelua's nomination. Chair Kdneali`i-Kleinfelder
informed Ms. Mehelua she did not need to appear at the next council meeting for confirmation of her
appointment.
Pursuant to Article 42, Section 2-215(a) of the Hawaii County Code,there is established a Public
Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission, which shall consist of nine
members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 70, and
recommends confirmation of the appointment of Lisa Anne Kamuela Mehelua to the Public Access,
Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission.
