Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 31-21, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 31-21,transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako,via Communication No. 58 dated
December 30, 2020, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one fiscal year
for a multi-year lease for one multi-function copy machine for the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney.
Authorizes the Mayor to enter into a five-year lease agreement, with an approximate monthly cost of$750.
Council Members called Director Sako forward to discuss the benefits of a true lease for the copier.
Ms. Sako informed Your Committee that the true lease includes supplies and at the end of the five-year term
it is more practical to replace the copier with an upgrade featuring the latest technology.
Hawaii County Charter Section 10-11 states that the Mayor may authorize a lease beyond the end of the
fiscal year which shall be approved resolution adopted by the County Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent and purpose of Resolution No. 31-21,
and recommends its adoption.
