REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE, WATER, <br /> ENERGY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT <br /> DATE: January 20, 2021 Re: Communication No. 69 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai i <br /> TIME: 10:45 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Regenerative Agriculture, Water, Energy, and Environmental Management, <br /> to which was referred Communication No. 69, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 69, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated December 24, 2020, <br /> nominates Brian Ley of Council District 4 to the Game Management Advisory Commission. A <br /> motion to move Communication No. 69 to full Council with a positive recommendation was <br /> made by Council Member Ashley Kierkiewicz; seconded by Council Member Susan Lee Loy. <br /> Introduced by P6maika`i Bartolome, Executive Assistant to Mayor Mitch Roth, Mr. Brian Ley is <br /> a 14-year resident of Hawaii Island and an active community member familiar with the State <br /> Department of Land and Natural Resources and the Game Management Commission, with his <br /> focus on the preservation of hunting, fishing, and cultural gathering rights. <br /> Mr. Ley addressed Your Committee expressing his willingness to serve on the County of <br /> Hawaii Game Management Advisory Commission as he has been an avid hunter for most of his <br /> life and understands the challenges and management opportunities that are available. <br /> Council Members and Chair Herbert M. "Tim" Richards, III commented in favor of the <br /> appointment. Chair Richards informed Mr. Ley that he does not need to appear at the next <br /> Council meeting for confirmation of his appointment. <br /> Pursuant to Article IV, Section 4-4 of the Hawaii County Charter, advisory commissions and <br /> members of advisory commissions may be appointed by the mayor, and members of such <br /> advisory commissions shall serve a term co-terminus of the mayor. <br /> RAWEEMC Report No: 2 <br />
