SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION STRONGLY SUPPORTING DIGITAL EQUITY
AND URGING DEVELOPMENT OF BROADBAND
INFRASTRUCTURE TO BOLSTER COVID RECOVERY AND
FOSTER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The County of Hawaii will work in collaboration with state and federal governments to take action to
encourage infrastructure investments that ensure access to broadband for all residents, support actions
to further the goals of advancing digital connectivity and equity and develop an implementation plan in
alignment with these goals.
Attached is a resolution detailing specific county-level actions that the County of Hawaii should take
to support this effort without delay.

RE: Resolution No. 43-21 A RESOLUTION STRONGLY
SUPPORTING DIGITAL EQUITY AND URGING DEVELOPMENT OF BROADBAND
INFRASTRUCTURE TO BOLSTER COVID-19 RECOVERY AND FOSTER ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawaii,
this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be waived from the
Committee on Governmental Operations, Relations and Economic Development to the full Council for
immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that
approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the
event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the
Committee on Governmental Operations, Relations and Economic Development for placement on its
future agenda.
