Re: Police Grant
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance appropriating $35,250 for a
Violence Against Children grant.
1. This grant will enable the Police Department to:
1. Im rove ~hg qquality of its investigations into
ex~rafamilraI and intrafamilial sexual and physical abuse
of children.
2. Provide training to investigators and Hospital Emergency
Room Registered Nursing staff in the areas of child
sexual and physical abuse, collecting an¢ preserving
physical evidence and issues involving civil liability in
protective custody situations.
2. Have investigators available to respond to child physical and
sexual abuse calls.
3. Improve investigative support system by implementing
technical and procedural changes within the department.
Also enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mapor to enter into an
Agreement with the United States of America for this grant.
