A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO ALOHA ʻĪLIO RESCUE
FOR ITS RESCUE AND ADOPTION PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Aloha ʻĪlio Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to reduce overpopulation and the rate of euthanasia of neglected and homeless dogs on Hawai‘i Island;
and
WHEREAS, Aloha ʻĪlio Rescue provides animal adoptions, education programs, foster homes, and outreach on the importance of spaying and neutering pets; and
WHEREAS, Aloha ʻĪlio Rescue is requesting funds for expenses associated with its rescue and adoption program, including spaying, neutering, microchips, vaccines, veterinary care, and
food to support its ongoing efforts to save animals from euthanasia; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports this project, which falls within its community-building initiative to collaborate with community-based organizations to balance
economic, social, health, and environmental priorities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide
a grant to Aloha ʻĪlio Rescue for its rescue and adoption program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
