Aloha County Council,
I support your decision of not reccomending Mr. Kern to serve as Planning Director. The work that Mr.
Kern has submitted for planning projects while in his private practice was inadequate, sloppy, and rejected for such
reasons by the previous Planning Department. We have all heard the arguments regarding the lack of education and
experience, and it shows in his previous work. I have a hard time believing that Mr. Kern will be able to effectively
serve in the public sector. He was willing to submit outdated assessments and reports on behalf of the private sector,
then he would be likely to accept them as County Planning Director. We also know that Ethically, Mr. Kern
would not be a good candidate due to his previous clients that are involved in the planning process as i write this.
I commend you all for having the courage to do what is right even though it is not in favor of the new Mayors
agenda. This Council has the authority of, checks and balances, that are intended when these
appointments arise. All the Best,
