Comm. 44 -Appointment of Zendo Kern as Planning Director
The Hawaii Government Employees Association, AFSCME Local 152, AFL-CIO strongly
supports the nomination of Mr. Zendo Kern as Planning Director.
Mr. Kern has extensive experience as a planning consultant working for his own
company. He also has experience in government having previously served on the County
Council and Planning Commission. Mr. Kern has demonstrated knowledge and
recognition in our members collective bargaining agreements to ensure employee's rights
and jobs are protected. Most importantly he supports and values public employees and
the work they do.
HGEA supports Directors who respect their employees and the contracts that protect
them. We are confident we will have a positive working relationship with Mr. Kern for the
duration of his employment as Planning Director. This will tremendously benefit not only
the employees in the department, but also the public and communities they serve.
It is our pleasure to offer our unequivocal support for the nomination of Zendo Kern as
Planning Director.
