TESTIMONY TO THE COUNCIL ON BILL 6
Aloha,
I wish to state my concerns regarding this bill,which would rezone an area along
Kapiolani Street to allow the construction of multifamily housing.
I have no objection to the project. However, I am concerned about the proposed
entry/exit onto Kukuau Street.
At the point where this entry/exit is planned, Kukuau Street is substandard. It is
very narrow,with no shoulders or sidewalks.Also,the proposed entry is just makai
of a bend in the street, making visibility limited.
I do not see what harm would come from making this an emergency-use only
entry/exit,with a gate that can be opened only by emergency personnel. The main
entry onto Kapiolani Street should be more than sufficient for use by residents and
service vehicles.
