Councilmembers:
My wife and I have lived mauka of the proposed University Village community at Palamanui for nearly 40 years, and
since its inception we have attended various meetings and stayed current of the plans for the development of the area,
with an eye toward possibly moving into this walkable, well planned community in our senior years.
We are in strong support of the developer's intent to create a functional, next generation community around the
collegeiand believe that their contributions to the larger Kona community to date are reason enough to trust their
commitment to their "refocused" master plan, and to allow them to proceed into the four phases of build-out they
have outlined. -
Please remember the developers' over $20 million dollar investment to date; as a serious pre-commitment to our
community, and worthy of granting them the opportunity to proceed with their plans.
Like other long-term Kona residents, we deeply appreciate that the developers enabled the creation of the Hawaii
Community College Palamanui, and that they are prepared to take the next steps toward implementing their vision for
a unique "University Village" which will become a significant contribution to the future of West Hawaii.
