RE: Support for PC-6 NOMINATION OF MARK TRAVELINO TO THE LEEWARD
PLANNING COMMISSION
Dear Chair David, Vice Chair Chun, and members:
The Hawai`i Construction Alliance is comprised of the Hawai`i Regional Council of Carpenters;
the Operative Plasterers' and Cement Masons' Union, Local 630; International Union of
Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers, Local 1; the Laborers' International Union of North
America, Local 368; and the Operating Engineers, Local Union No. 3. Together, the member
unions of the Hawai`i Construction Alliance represent 15,000 working men and women in the
basic crafts of Hawai`i's construction industry.
The Hawaii Construction Alliance submits this testimony in support for Mark Travelino for
appointment to Leeward Planning Commission.
As we all know, the county faces an extraordinary task of revamping their current practices in
order to issue permits and approve plans in a timely fashion, while coping with the economic
fallout from a global pandemic.
Mark has a wealth of experience in construction from his 12 years as a Field Representative with
Local 368 and his time on the Board of Appeals, and is a active member of the leeward
community.
The Alliance has had the chance to work closely with Mark, and in addition to Mark's
experience, we find him to be collaborative and results-driven,
