IN -I -O AN AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF THE ATTORNEY

EiNERAL, HAWAVI CRIMINAL JUSTICE DATA CENTER PURSUANT
TO HRS 46-7, FOR A GRANT TO THE HAWAVI COUNTY POLICE
DEMPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Hawaii C:)unty Police Department wishes for the County to
enter into an agreement between the Department of the Attorney General, Hawaii
'
Criminal Justice Data Center and the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the Department of the Attorney General, Hawaii Criminal Justice
Da -',:a Center has authorized funds through the National Instant Criminal Background
Chack Act Record Improvement Program to be provided to the Hawaii County Police
De?artment for the purpose of erhancing the firearms process by automating and
str(-.Aamlining the firearms registration process and improving record keeping and data
availability; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county
department: o obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal
or ;tate governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers
granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in
connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers; now,
therefore,
BE 17 RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in
acc,ordance with section 46-7, Hc-.*iwai'i Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of
HaNai'i is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement and related
documents with the Department of the Attorney General, Hawaii Criminal Justice Data
Center to enable the County to receive funds as specified above.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVI-D that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall
transmit copies of this resolution 'to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance Department
and to the Hawaii County Police Department.
