Aloha Councilmembers,
Please revise Bill 5 to address the clause for automatic approval-- if decisions on permits are delayed, it is usually because there
are issues unresolved, not due to lack of diligence on the part of the department or council. Automatic approvals lead to
mistakes that cannot be corrected except by expensive and time-consuming efforts on the part of citizens who must take time
i
away from their work. Don't require expensive, time-consuming contested cases to stop projects! I have been involved is some
of those cases, and with appropriate government action, they are avoidable!
We need an automatic denial clause instead!
Mahalo,
Deborah Ward
