ri <br /> REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: February 16, 2021 Re: Comm.No. 112 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:33 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo,Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Communication No. 112,reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 112,transmitted by Acting Mayor Lee E.Lord, dated January 25, 2021, nominates <br /> Deborah Ward of Council District 5 to the Public Access, Open Space,Natural Resources Preservation <br /> Commission(PONC). <br /> Ms. Pomaikai Bartolome,the Executive Assistant to Mayor Roth, introduced Ms. Ward, and praised her <br /> dedication as a volunteer. Ms. Ward is an active participant in several civic organizations, including the <br /> Hawaii Tropical Fruit Growers, Hawaii Community College Forest TEAM Advisory Committee, <br /> University of Hawaii-Hilo - Office of Mauna Kea Management Environmental Committee, and the Sierra <br /> Club,the nation's largest and most effective grassroots environmental movement,passionately defending <br /> most precious resources and wild places. <br /> Nominee Ward was present and expressed her gratitude for being nominated and appreciated the opportunity <br /> to serve. Chair Kanealii-Kleinfelder informed Ms. Ward she did not need to appear at the next Council <br /> meeting for confirmation of her appointment. <br /> Council Member Heather L. Kimball commented on this nomination as a"fantastic nomination." <br /> Council Member Herbert M.
