RESOLUTION NO. 60 21
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND
LGBTQ PRIDE FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH.
WHEREAS, Hawaii Island LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer)
Pride is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide opportunities for our
diverse community to gather together and to partner with other community organizations to
produce year-round events, such as its annual Pride Parade and Festival; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Island LGBTQ Pride also conducts educational outreach to
LGBTQ youth at public events and through partnerships with teachers; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Island LGBTQ Pride is requesting funds for educational materials
and age-appropriate classroom resources to distribute to teachers upon request as well as supplies
for children's activities at public events; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports alcohol -free and drug-free
community events and programs that improve the well-being of our youth; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawaii Island LGBTQ Pride for expenses related to its
educational outreach.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
