G 5 21 ION RIMM.11 us 9M k1l M HN 01 WHEREAS, Hawai'i Rise Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to creating opportunities for vulnerable, or moderate and low-income families, children, and the elderly; and WHEREAS, Vibrant Hawaii is a community organization dedicated to convening multi -sector groups to advance collective contribution towards our island's shared vision; and WHEREAS, Vibrant Hawaii has created resilience hubs to increase access to digital connectivity and improve food security while supporting the local economy and providing a suite of resilience and wellness programming; and WHEREAS, Vibrant Hawaii is donating equipment, supplies and food with a total value of $68,000 to the Department of Parks and Recation; and WHEREAS, these supplies will be used at Papa'ikou Gym and Community Center, Stanley Costales Waidkea 'Uka Gym, Kawananakoa Gym, Waimea District Park and Honomid Gym to provide children with virtual learning space/support and food distribution for the County's child learning programs; and WHEREAS, Article X111, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estates, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution approved by the Council; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the acceptance of this donation; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the County of Hawaii accepts this donation. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be sent to Hawai'i Rise Foundation, 11 Silva Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, Vibrant Hawaii, 200 Kanoelehua Avenue PMB 366, -Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation, and that a copy of this resolution be sent to (1) the Honorable Mitchell D. Roth, Mayor of the County of Hawai'i, (2) the Department of Parks and Recreation; (3) the Department of Finance; and (4) the Office of the Corporation Counsel.
