Aloha Council Chair David and Council Members:
It is my honor and pleasure to nominate Diane Kaneali'i of Council District 9 to the Public
Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission.
Ms. Kaneali'i is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i Island. Born and raised in Kohala, Diane has been
instrumental in advocating and implementing community initiatives and programs. She was
instrumental in the planning and building process of the resource center on Hawaiian Homelands
in Kawaihae.
Ms. Kaneali'i is a former Nurse Practitioner with a bachelor's degree from the University of
Phoenix 2006. She is also a graduate of the University of Hawai'i at Hilo. She is interested in
serving as a Commissioner to ensure that our coastal and special properties are preserved for
future generations. Ms. Kaneali'i served on the County of Hawaii Community Development Plan
Action Committee, and is a former member, President and Executive Director of Kailapa
Community Association. If confirmed, she will serve a term to end December 31, 2025.
