Aloha Council Chair David and Council Members:
It is my honor and pleasure to nominate James "Kuno" Lee of Council District 2 to the
Transportation Commission.
Mr. Lee is a lifelong Hawai'i Island resident, and for the past 15 years, responsible for the
planning, management, and development of 17,000 acres of kama'aina family-owned lands, as
Director of Development for W.H. Shipman, Ltd. In this capacity Mr. Lee participates directly
with the Board of Directors as well as cultivating community-based partnerships to create long
range sustainability and planned development for balanced, responsible land use.
Mr. Lee holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Chaminade University. He
previously served as a member of the Hawaii County Fire Commission, and is an active member
of numerous civic organizations, including the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry,
Hawai'i Island Chamber of Commerce, and the State Historic Preservation—Hawai'i Island
Burial Council. If confirmed, he will serve a term to end December 31, 2024.
